Much better than the newly published primers
I was surprised at how easy this is to understand, and how well written. Most foreign language books today seem to focus primarily on memorizing vocabulary, rather than understanding the language, which is why children can take 3 years of a foreign language and still be unable to speak it.
Within 2 chapters, I understood the alphabet and vowel system well enough that I was able to actually sound out the words. Of course, I don't know what they mean yet; but this is more than I was able to accomplish even with the expensive Barron's books. It is easy now to understand how school children of 100 years ago could learn Latin, Greek and Hebrew in school if the books were written in this way.
The only drawback is that despite the plethora of exercises and problems, there is no answer guide. Therefore, you aren't able to check your work for errors.
